Rafa Benitez thinks there is more to come from Fernando Torres after the striker scored both goals in Liverpool's Merseyside derby win over Everton.
Torres had looked flat in recent weeks, and before the weekend hadn't scored since the opening day of the Premier League season against Sunderland.
However, after his brace at Goodison Park, Benitez believes Torres will grow stronger as the season goes on.
"It was important for Fernando and us that he has started scoring, so to get two in a derby is massive for him," Benitez said in the Liverpool Echo.
"Clearly, Fernando is a player who can change games and it is positive that he has confidence now.
"He's a threat for defenders and the only thing he is missing at the moment is his physical condition.
"When he came back from the European Championships it was important for him to rest and then train properly.
"He had an injury and he still has to improve physically. He is working so hard and he will get better - he will have more pace and be stronger.
"Fernando knows he can still improve a lot and the main thing for me is that his mentality is really good.
"He scored 33 last season but I haven't set him a target this season. If he scores 32 I will be pleased!"
Meanwhile, Torres has passed on most of the credit for his goals to Robbie Keane and Dirk Kuyt.
Keane's cross was converted by Torres for the opener, who was afforded plenty of time and space by a near-post run from Kuyt.
Torres said: "It is very simple - without Robbie and Dirk, the goals I scored would not have been created.
"They were involved in both goals and it is because they give everything for the team that I was able to score them.
"If you look at my first goal, the ball that Robbie crossed in was perfect and so was the run by Dirk which took the Everton defenders away and gave me a clear chance.
"It is always nice to score, but without my team mates it would not have been possible."
